Finn Juhl played a groundbreaking role in the Danish Modern design movement as his sculptural furniture manifested Denmark's position as a pioneering country within furniture design. Juhl’s furniture calls out and sparks admiration because of its light quality and sculptural elegance, which reached far beyond its own time. His organic and artistically inspired shapes made Finn Juhl a main exponent of the organic variant of international modernism.

Celebrated as the master of Danish Modern, Finn Juhl is recognized worldwide. A self-taught designer, he originally studied to become an architect at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen but worked with the mindset of a sculptor when creating his designs. Rather than thinking in terms of practicality, Finn Juhl broke free from the constraints of conventional working methods to create truly innovative designs
